MOULIN du JARDINIER...

few days ago INVITATION TO INSPIRATION accidently came across the April issue of Vogue ( VOGUE APRIL 2011 ). There was this small article about British filmmaker's (Sir David Lean ) glamorous retreat called MOULIN du JARDINIER. It is a fifteenth-century stone mill house in the South of France...and there was only one small picture of it! We instantly wanted to find out more about it.

When director Sir David Lean first spotted this 15th century stone-built house, he said: All I want to do is lie down in the grass under an olive tree and look up through its silver-green leaves and gaze at the blue sky.

The picture above is the one we immediately fell in love with.

The furnishings throughout the house are a blend of the original dramatic, tempered with an elegant Scandinavian simplicity. Rich fabrics and beautifully executed paint effect finishes, including several entrancing murals, all create a colourful setting for the Provencal antique furniture.
From the house and its gardens there is an open view over the valley below.
